R. STUDENT ON INCORRECT BUS From time to time, a child will get on the wrong bus. This happens most frequently during the first few days of school but may happen at any time due to families moving into the area and children being confused as to which bus to take. The following procedure must be followed if a student is found on a bus at the end of a run and is lost or on the wrong bus: 1. The driver must attempt to identify the student, asking for phone number or address. 2. The driver must then call Dispatch for identification of the appropriate stop for the student. 3. Dispatch will contact the home or school and instruct the driver how to assist the student to be returned to their appropriate stop. 4. The driver shall never drop the student at any location without specific instructions from Dispatch. S. SMART TAG REQUIREMENT To increase our students’ safety and security, all students will be required to register for and obtain a SMART tag. Student passes must be scanned when loading and unloading the bus every day. Transportation will not be provided without the pass, except during the grace period following the beginning of a new semester or school year. New students beginning after the start of the semester shall be given one week to obtain a SMART tag. The Bus Pass Clause will be enforced when a student does not present a valid SMART tag pass for three (3) consecutive days. Failure to produce a valid pass will result in the student being issued a referral. The student will then have three (3) days to replace the lost pass. If the pass is not replaced within three (3) days, another referral will be issued and the student will be denied transportation by the Transportation Security Supervisor. No student is to be denied transportation by the driver until notification is received from the Transportation Security Supervisor.

To request a new, renewal, or replacement pass drivers should direct the students and parents to our website for instructions at www.avsta.com.
